PLMR elected as Chair of the Global Communications Alliance

PLMR is delighted to have been elected as Chair of the Global Communications Alliance (GCA) – a network of 17 independent communications agencies which spans five continents.

Appointed to the role of Chair is Sara Ghaffari, Associate Director at PLMR. She takes up the position from Markus Hilse, Managing Director at navos in Germany, who led the GCA throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Building on the momentum from the GCA’s 2022 annual conference in Berlin, PLMR will lead the GCA as it looks to grow the network and further expand its collaboration on client projects and new business opportunities, particularly across the GCA’s energy offering – a critical and growing sector for its partners.

Recognising the competitive recruitment market and the importance of providing meaningful development experiences, PLMR will also create new career development and training opportunities for consultants at all levels across the partner agencies. Activities will include continuing the GCA’s leadership exchange programme, as well as its new peer mentoring programme and global education series in which member agencies share insights and best practice from their respective regions.

While drawing on the wider PLMR Group’s expertise, in this role, Sara will draw on her eight plus years of senior communications experience. She will also be supported by Victoria Cameron, Senior Account Director at PLMR, as Vice Chair.

Sara Ghaffari, newly elected Chair of the GCA and Associate Director at PLMR, said:

“PLMR is thrilled to have the opportunity to Chair the Global Communications Alliance and I am looking forward to working with colleagues, both across the PLMR Group and the GCA, to build on the great work and momentum that has been achieved under Markus’ leadership.

“The GCA brings countless benefits to our clients and colleagues, and I am really excited to push forward with our exciting plans for the benefit of all.

“Our agencies are facing new challenges and opportunities, which make alliances like the GCA even more important, and we are excited to further expand the GCA, and its initiatives, to ensure we are providing market leading support for our clients and careers for our consultants.”

Markus Hilse, outgoing Chair of the GCA and Managing Director at navos, said:

“During our time as chair, new members and new initiatives have added momentum to our international network. We are now excited to see Sara, Victoria and the PLMR team bring their experience and energy to the table. We know they will drive on the GCA as a network that adds-value for its member agencies, their people and clients.”

PLMR is a co-founder of the Global Communications Alliance, which was established in 2015.
